The challenge

What needed to change.

The Parr Shakespeare Prize is an annual award for excellence in teaching Shakespeare. It had a name and funding but no website, no visual identity and a fixed public launch date six weeks away. It needed to feel like an established institution from its first day.

01

No brand assets

No logo system, colours or design language for the web.

02

Fixed deadline

Launch was tied to a public announcement. Six weeks, no extensions.

03

Simple applications

Teachers had to apply easily on any device, with documents attached.

04

Two audiences

Applicants on one side, judges and press on the other.

The approach

How we built it.

01

Literary brand

A classical look with engraved portraits and a parchment palette, so the prize felt established.

02

Application site

Teachers are nominated and apply with a resume, lesson plan and letter of support.

03

Screener & judge portals

Private portals to shortlist and score applications, with role-based access protecting applicant data.

04

Brevo email

Contacts, applicant emails and announcements sent from one platform, with no manual exports.

05

Client-managed admin

A WordPress admin built with ACF so the team runs every prize cycle themselves.

06

Six-week delivery

Brand, site, portals and email delivered on the launch date.
